Number
  • $85. That’s how much the average rent price in Austin dropped compared to this time last year, according to a study by Apartment List. The average rent fell — for the first time since the pandemic — from $1,719 to $1,634, but still sits higher than pre-pandemic rates.
Sports
  • The I-35 Series is coming back to Austin. The Spurs will play two games at the Moody Center this spring: Friday, March 15 against the Denver Nuggets and Sunday, March 17 against the Brooklyn Nets. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.
Eat
  • After parting ways with one of its founders, pizza restaurant Sammataro will soon go by a new name. Owners also plan to open a second location of the restaurant, of which the name has yet to be announced, within the next six months. (Austin American-Statesman)
Event
  • One man’s trash is another man’s treasure at the Trash Makeover Challenge, a fashion show where designers of all abilities create looks using at least 90% recycled materials. See the fashion show for yourself on Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Texas Disposal Systems Wildlife Ranch & Pavilion — get tickets.
Finance
  • Refinance rates are skyrocketing. But home equity rates remain relatively low — which means that now is a great time to borrow against your home. Calculate your payment.*
