Mueller’s new Skate Park and Pump Track officially opened this weekend.

It’s the northernmost park of its kind in Austin, and open for use by skateboarders, inline skaters, and BMX bikers of all experience levels.

In addition to flat + curved skating areas, the park contains:

  • Quarter pipes
  • A half-bowl
  • Lips
  • A shaded canopy rest area
  • Restrooms + a water fountain

The space is 15 years in the making, said Kanten Russell a designer with New Line Skateparks, pointing out some of the park’s softer slopes cater to visitors of all ages.

"(Part of the park) is an all-wheel facility,” Russell said, during the park’s grand opening on Friday afternoon. “That’s something that is more of a cutting edge trend … we’re truly trying to be as inclusive as we can, to really have everything for all riders and users.”

The park was designed with community input in mind, and was elected to be built nearby to the still-under construction North East Middle School and with access to the 28.5-acre Southeast Greenway.

“Every time I come here to Mueller, I think about how this community was created. And it was created from a public process,” said District 9 Council Member Kathie Tovo at the opening. “Now, this incredible community space is a destination for so many people throughout this city.”

Check out the park yourself at 3601 Zach Scott St.
