2024 was an epic year for our local dining scene — the first-ever Michelin stars in Austin were awarded, and tons of new restaurants made their debut. That said, we can’t wait for what 2025 has in store.
Here are some of the restaurants on our radar that are set to open this year.
Bad Larry’s, 2027 E. Cesar Chavez St.
The burger pop-up’s first standalone location is set to open its doors in the Holly neighborhood early this year. Expect smash burgers, breakfast dishes, cocktails, wine, beer, and a coffee + espresso bar — plus events like concerts, DJ sets, and a music and food festival.
Ēma, 3120 Palm Way, Ste. #170
Aba’s sister restaurant — coming to Domain NORTHSIDE in fall 2025 — will feature a mezze-style menu of Mediterranean small plates available for weekday lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The restaurant will offer both indoor + outdoor dining spaces.
Fish Shop, location TBA
A new raw bar inspired by European coastlines will open on East 6th Street sometime this spring, joining neighborhood favorites like Lolo Wine, Uptown Sports Club, and Suerte. Think: oysters, clams, peel-and-eat-shrimp, crudo, crab rolls, chowder, scallops, and fish + chips.
Justine’s x Blanton, 200 E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Austinites will soon be able to enjoy French cuisine in the heart of the Blanton Museum of Art. Justine’s new location will take design inspiration from Parisian cafes, boasting an outdoor deck where guests can take in Downtown views while they dine + sip wine.
Katz’s Never Kloses, 618 W. 6th St.
This beloved Texas deli plans to bring back its original Austin location — which shuttered in 2011 — sometime in late 2025 or early 2026. We can’t wait to dig into a Reuben sandwich.
Leona Botanical Café & Bar, 6405 Brodie Lane
Get excited for the upcoming launch of this garden concept featuring three counter-service restaurants. DEE DEE and Veracruz All Natural are confirmed tenants, and the venue’s beverage program will highlight Thai and Mexican flavors.
Little Ola’s Biscuits, 1905 Aldrich St.
Though the biscuit shop closed its Wells Branch location late last year, fans can look forward to finding its baked goods in a new spot in the Mueller neighborhood in early 2025.
Paperboy, 1401 S. Lamar Blvd.
The lauded brunch restaurant known for its daytime cocktails and creative breakfast dishes will introduce a new location in the Zilker neighborhood in early 2025.
Strangelove, location TBA
This coffee shop and wine bar from the folks behind Small Victory is anticipated to open on East Cesar Chavez Street sometime soon.
Swedish Hill, 1804 S. First St.
A local favorite, this bakery and restaurant will launch its newest location in the former Foxtrot space in Bouldin Creek in early 2025. The new locale will be the mini-chain’s flagship restaurant, according to MML Hospitality Group.
TORA, location TBA
Aburi Restaurants will bring a high-tech sushi experience — where patrons order via a touchscreen and food is delivered on conveyor belts — to northeast Austin in the fall.
Tzintzuntzan, 2330 North Loop Blvd.
From the minds behind Fonda San Miguel comes this new breakfast and lunch eatery at the same address, which will tote baked goods and dishes inspired by different cities in Mexico come March 2025.
