Bird will also be joined by Madison Cunningham at the seventh annual fundraising concert for the Hi, How Are You Project.

Each year in January, Austinites are invited to ask someone in their lives one question: Hi, How Are You?

In celebration of the late Daniel Johnston — the local artist behind the famous “Jeremiah The Innocent” mural — January 22 (Johnston’s birthday) is dubbed Hi, How Are You Day.

The holiday was created by the nonprofit Hi, How Are You Project to raise awareness for mental health through live music, another one of Johnston’s talents, and intentional conversation.

The Hi, How Are You Project will commemorate the holiday with its seventh annual concert, featuring performances from Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham, who have an album together, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24 at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets start at $44 and proceeds benefit the nonprofit.

The concert has boasted big performers in years past, including Grouplove, Cage the Elephant, The Flaming Lips, and Robin Pecknold of Fleet Foxes.
