What songs make you think of Austin?

It’s no secret that Austin has a world-class local music scene — after all, this is the Live Music Capital of the World — but how many resident musicians do you have on your playlist?

We want to spread the word about our local talent, so we made you a community playlist.

Of course we’ve included the classics — Willie Nelson, Black Pumas, Jackie Venson, Spoon, Gary Clark Jr., and Shakey Graves — but we hope you find some new songs, too. You’ll find many of these artists performing at festivals like SXSW, ACL, and Austin Blues Festival.

City Editor Figi’s favorites include “Belushi” by Chief Cleopatra, “empty streets, red lights blink” by Foxtales, and “Left-Handed Lover” by Lady Dan.

City Editor Morgan recommends giving “The Ones” by Riders Against the Storm, “Making Love” by Sir Woman, and “Will I Still Bloom?” by Half Dream a listen.
