Red River Cultural District unveils five-year strategic enhancement plan

The Soundtrack to the Future plan outlines improvements to the venue facades, curb appeal, and safety features.

Austin’s Music Mile, aka the Red River Cultural District, is getting a little TLC. The district debuted plans for a strategic plan, called Soundtrack to the Future, for the next five years.

The announcement comes on the heels of its economic impact report, which stated that Red River generated $2.3 billion for the city over the last five years. Here’s what’s in store for the plan:

  • Upgrades to the exteriors and of venues including The 13th Floor, Elysium, and Valhalla for a more cohesive strip
  • New gateways at major entrances and revamped signage
  • Solar-powered lighting, newly planted trees, raised planters, and enhanced curb appeal from 10th to 15th streets
  • New public murals dedicated to the identity of Red River Street
  • Revitalized sidewalks + safety improvements for pedestrians
