Austin Restaurant Weeks kicks off Friday, Aug. 29 and lasts through Sunday, Sept. 14.

During those two weeks, 85+ restaurants will serve $25 prix-fixe menus for lunch or brunch, $50 or $75 menus for dinner, and $12 cocktails.

Partaking in the annual celebration of local eats is also for a good cause: A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Central Texas Food Bank.

We’re sharing a few deals — check out the full list of participating restaurants here. Psst — some menus are still in progress.

🚀 Blast from the past

576. That’s how many Historical Markers and War Memorials exist in Travis County, according to The Historical Marker Database. How many of them do you know about?

Figi here. I get a kick out of finding and reading historical marker plaques around town, so I want to share a new one with you because it’s Flashback Friday.

Broken Spoke | Erected in 2021
A relative newcomer to the list, this time-honored dance hall was founded by Austin native James M. White in 1964. Over the years, the honky-tonk has hired local musicians and country music legends (like Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb), been featured in TV and movies, earned its own documentary, and made a cameo in “Queer Eye.”

The Buy

Our favorite back-to-school find for college students: an upholstered storage ottoman. Dorm rooms don’t offer much space, so smart storage solutions are a must. This ottoman delivers with a roomy interior and soft teddy velvet fabric — combining function with style.

The Wrap

Putting that quiz together really threw me back to the days of listening to “Our Song” with my friends when I was 10 years old, back when Taylor Swift was still an indie country artist. Austin has some big-time rising stars in its local music scene — just look to Die Spitz, Chief Cleopatra, and Mama Duke.
