Austin-Bergstrom International Airport’s international arrivals expansion project will hold a ribbon-cutting later this month. The expansion added new baggage carousels, doubled the waiting space, and increased the number of U.S. Customs and Border Protection booths. (Austin American-Statesman)
Development
Construction to transform Old 6th Street could begin in 2027. City officials plan to widen sidewalks and install permanent bollards that would more effectively allow street traffic and nightlife to move freely through the district. (KXAN)
Austinite
Mayor Kirk Watson traveled across the pond to appear at the inaugural SXSW London Festival, where he met with London Mayor Sadiq Khan. While there, Watson said he also met with business owners who are looking to expand to ATX. (KVUE)
Opening
Swig, a Utah-based pop shop known for its creamy “dirty sodas,” has plans to open two storefronts in the Austin area. Opening dates for the new locations at The Shops at Hero Way Phase II in Leander and The Commons at Star Ranch in Hutto have not yet been announced. (KVUE)
Coming Soon
A sushi concierge restaurant called TORA is coming to town. From the folks behind Aburi Restaurants, TORA will deliver dishes to visitors via a laneway system after it opens on north Austin’s East Parmer Lane in December.

Watch out — Swiss watchmaker TAG Heuer will open at Domain NORTHSIDE in a 1,000-sqft space later this year. The shop will join a host of new additions to the upscale shopping center, including Google, J.Crew, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
Try This
Barbecue aficionados, this tour is for you. EASTside ATX will launch a tour of some of east Austin’s best barbecue spots — think la Barbecue, KGBBQ, and Mum Foods — this month. Tours will run every Saturday + Sunday, beginning June 14. Tickets start at $145.
Eat
This is shrimply the best. Restaurants under the Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group umbrella — Emmer & Rye, Hestia, Canje, Ezov, and Kalimotxo — are joining forces to host a seafood celebration on Monday, June 16. Tickets are $50 and will benefit the Drake Sweet Foundation.

Three businesses headquartered in Austin made this year’s Fortune 500 list. Tesla came in at No. 43, Oracle landed at No. 87, and Hormel Foods made No. 352 on this ranking of the biggest US companies by revenue. Cha-ching.
Legacy
Former Austin City Council Member Jackie Goodman died at age 79 on Tuesday, June 3. Goodman served on the council from 1993 to 2005, was inducted into the Austin Women’s Hall of Fame in 2016, and was known for her environmental efforts. (Austin American-Statesman)
