Exclusive: Switchyards will open first ‘neighborhood work club’ in Austin

The coveted workspace will release 250 memberships for its inaugural Austin location, opening early this summer.

Open-concept coworking space with people working at communal tables, lounge chairs, and leather sofas, surrounded by plants, books, and natural light from large windows.

Whether you work remotely or just need a change of pace, Switchyards gives you a place to get work done.

The folks behind Switchyards, a 24/7 “neighborhood work club” coming to Austin soon, want to make going to the office work for you.

Whether you’re an early bird or you like to burn the midnight oil, the Switchyards team says working at one of their clubs is like being a member of a country club, but without the high price tag.

Some quick facts about Switchyards clubs:

  • 250 memberships will be available.
  • Members have 24/7 access to the space.
  • Membership grants access to all work clubs across the country.
  • Members get free locally roasted coffee, thanks to partnerships with local shops.
  • Phone booths, meeting rooms, and deep work spaces will be available at no extra cost.
  • Memberships are $100/month.

Austin’s flagship location will open on Monday, June 23, at 4403 Guadalupe St. in Hyde Park. Tucked inside a 1940s warehouse, Austin’s club will be the 26th location in the country, joining cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Denver, Kansas City, and Charleston.

The last 10 new clubs sold out memberships on drop day, and Switchyards’ Creative Director Brandon Hinman told ATXtoday that the last two openings sold out in under five minutes. Hinman said it’s not just a work club — Switchyards is a third place.

“When you walk into a Switchyards, it’s buzzing,” Hinman said. “It’s almost like a Ritz-Carlton and a dive bar had a baby. It does have that luxe feel, it does feel generous, it does feel dialed in, but it also has a little bit of ‘Cheers’ to it, a little bit of that neighborhood pub to it, and that’s the balance we’re trying to hit.”

Membership applications open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18. Pro tip: Join the waitlist to get early access to memberships and sneak peek invites.
