We’re putting your unofficial historical locations together in one place. | Map via Proxi
We’re putting together a map of unofficial locations that deserve a historical marker. We can’t wait to show you the finished product, but in the meantime, we thought we’d share a submission.
“The intersection of E. 12th St. and Chicon has taken on many roles over the previous decades, and it should be marked for its historical contributions to the area... Now a beautiful mural is there and signifies the beauty and significance of the area, but a historical marker should also be placed there.” — John S.
There’s still time to put your favorite location on the map. Submit your unofficial historical marker to our local map by clicking the button below. You have until Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Opening
We’re on a roll. Upscale omakase restaurant Sushi By Scratch has a new location in the works just off of 6th Street. The restaurant, which already has a location in Cedar Creek inside the Lost Pines Resort, will open on Friday, Dec. 6. (Eater Austin)
Development
A new H-E-B location will open in southeast Austin, near McKinney Falls Parkway and William Cannon Drive, sometime in 2027. Construction is expected to begin next year. The Texas grocery chain currently has 12 greater Austin-area projects in the works, which should bring 4,000+ jobs to the community. (KXAN)
Closed
Seafood truck Huckleberry closed down earlier this month, saying it was not goodbye, but “see y’all soon,” in an Instagram post. Fairweather Cider also closed down last week, but management plans to move to another location in the future. (Eater Austin)
Real Estate
A new, southeast Austin affordable housing project called Ekos City Heights is now open. The development contains 179 income-restricted apartments for folks 55 and older, and 10 of them will be reserved for people exiting homelessness. (KUT)
Eat
We’ll take another serving of corn casserole. That’s the side dish that reigns supreme in Texas, according to Google search trends. Find some other great local eats for your Thanksgiving.
Sports
The Dallas Cowboys will host the New York Giants today at 3:30 p.m. and both teams will be without their starting offensive tackles. Get the biggest stories every day from the local experts of the Dallas Cowboys with Locked On’s daily podcasts.

The Buy
The Buy
A Black Friday sale on the No. 1 bestselling clog on Amazon: Crocs. Buy the Crocs classic clog for up to 45% off in select sizes and colors. Psst — They would make a great holiday gift, too.
I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving, but I’m excited to put up my Christmas tree. We recently started doing real trees in my house, so we have to wait until after Turkey Day. I like to put on Cher, crack open some Austin Eastciders, and make an event out of it.
