Thanksgiving feasts in Austin: Best spots for dine-in and to-go

Gobble up 12 of the best Thanksgiving meals available in the Capital City.

It’s almost turkey time, and our mouths are watering just thinking about all of the local Thanksgiving feasts.

If you’d rather not fog up the kitchen on Thursday, Nov. 28, here’s something to be thankful for: Austin restaurants are dishing up plenty of delightful meals for you and your crew to gobble up. Let’s dig in.

Take-home meals

Fresa’s, multiple locations | Snag a signature roasted turkey meal, which includes roasted turkey breast, turkey pan gravy, citrus-Serrano cranberry sauce, chorizo stuffing, and your choice of three sides. Psst — don’t skip the “Next Day Pozole Kit,” which comes with everything you need to make the traditional stew.

Aba, 1101 S. Congress Ave. | When you order this dinner for two, you’ll receive classic hummus with crudite, pumpkin hummus with house bread, “Greek Village Salad,” truffle-baked orzo, beef tenderloin kebab, and turkey breast with gravy. You can also add on dishes like the whipped feta spread and muhammara.

Its “Orange-Thyme Rubbed Airline Turkey Breast with Turkey Gravy” is the star of the show, accompanied by classic sides like rosemary + brown sugar-glazed roasted carrots, sharp cheddar mac ‘n’ cheese, and traditional cornbread stuffing. Fig Italian Kitchen & Bar, 3403 S. Lamar Blvd. | The new south Austin restaurant will offer “holiday favorites with an Italian twist,” including menu items like a whole brined + stuffed turkey, brioche rolls, rigatoni mac ‘n’ cheese, charred carrots with salsa verde, mashed potatoes, and lemon sage gravy.

Fareground, 111 Congress Ave. | Place an order from the Downtown food hall and load up on goods from various restaurants, like a rosemary chicken from Austin Rotisserie, a whole pumpkin cheesecake from Taco Pegaso, and a gallon of DRINK’s seasonal cocktail, the “Harvest Cran Smash.”

Dine-in experiences

Serenade, 200 Lavaca St. | At this newly opened American brasserie, Thanksgiving dinner is a three-course prix fixe with choices like smoked snapper tartare, heritage turkey with confit and chestnut stuffing, cauliflower steak, and pumpkin palmier with candied sage.

Nido, 1211 W. Riverside Dr. | Eat a family-style Thanksgiving dinner while taking in skyline views at this rooftop restaurant, which will offer special dishes like roasted turkey, honeynut squash soup, Brussels sprouts, green bean casserole, pumpkin panna cotta, and more.

The Driskill, 604 Brazos St. | Take your loved ones to the historic hotel to indulge in its Thanksgiving family buffet. In addition to the festive spread, tickets include live music, professional family portraits, and valet parking. You can also order its turkey Wellington to-go.

Yamas Greek Kitchen + Bar, 5308 Balcones Dr. | Spend Thanksgiving at a Grecian oasis and enjoy a prix fixe dinner. Your plate will be piled high with turkey, herb stuffing, Greek salad, homemade cornbread, garlic Parmesan carrots, classic cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie.

Stella San Jac, 310 E. 5th St. | The family-style meal at this American-inspired eatery features fried turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, and beet + goat cheese salad. For dessert, try the Texas pecan pie and pumpkin cheesecake.

Caroline, 621 Congress Ave. | Grab a reservation at this Downtown restaurant for a roast turkey dinner with garlic-whipped potatoes, classic stuffing, gravy, and crispy Brussels sprouts. Plus, each diner will take home a complimentary to-go pack of leftovers.
