Be honest — how much of Austin have you really experienced?
In the past, we’ve asked our readers which local place they thought every Austinite should visit. Most common answers included Barton Springs, Mount Bonnell, the Texas Capitol, and the Ann Richards Congress Avenue Bridge during bat season.
Now, we’re asking you how many of those Austin landmarks, venues, and festivals you’ve checked off your Austin bucket list.
Have you lived all over the city? Have you seen music in all the venues around town? Are you a connoisseur of Austin’s many landmarks? Take this quiz, and we’ll tell you what percentage of Austin you’ve experienced.
Before you start checking boxes away, know that getting a perfect score on this list is very unlikely. We suggest using it as a road map for exploring the Capital City.
Editor’s note: While we know Austin’s history and culture involves dozens of beloved venues that have since closed, this list only includes venues that were operating at the time of publication.

Here in Austin — where the music never stops, BBQ is a way of life, and the vibe is always electric — we thrive on a vibrant culture, unique spirit, and passion for discovering the latest innovations. That’s why it’s fitting that the good people of Austin will be the first in the US to experience a new alternative to cigarettes.
Say hello to IQOS, a new alternative to cigarettes that provides real tobacco taste and satisfaction.
IQOS (pronounced EYE-kohs), is an innovative, rechargeable device, but instead of burning tobacco or vaporizing e-liquid, it heats real tobacco. It’s part of a new tech category called “heat not burn” devices. That means you can enjoy real authentic tobacco taste and satisfaction without fire or ash and less lingering smell than cigarettes. No more dirty ashtrays.
There’s more: IQOS heats tobacco and does not burn it. Heating tobacco significantly reduces the production of harmful and potentially harmful chemicals compared with cigarettes. Scientific studies have shown that switching completely from conventional cigarettes to IQOS significantly reduces your body’s exposure to harmful and potentially harmful chemicals. IQOS is the first and only heated tobacco system authorized by the FDA as a modified risk tobacco product. This does not mean that use of IQOS is risk-free or that the FDA has approved or endorsed IQOS.
It’s a game-changer for adult smokers who want to switch from traditional combustible tobacco products.
Whether you’re hiking the trails at Barton Creek, catching some outdoor live music on Sixth Street, or hanging out at Zilker Park, you’ll get an enjoyable real tobacco experience with IQOS.
Welcome to a new era of enjoyment, Austin. Are you ready to make the switch?
Plan ahead if you’re traveling out of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport around ACL Festival. The airport is poised to see high traffic Friday, Oct. 4-Tuesday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 11-Tuesday, Oct. 15, with some reprieve on both Saturdays.
Festival
Folk band Caamp will no longer perform at ACL Festival. The band announced its cancellation on Instagram, saying they needed to drop out due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The group was originally scheduled to play both Saturdays. (KVUE)

A coastal Mexican restaurant called Con Vista Al Mar — which specializes in dishes like ceviche, seafood burritos, and tostadas — is now open at 1209 E. 7th St. With four locations around Mexico City, this is the restaurant’s first foray into a US market. (Eater Austin)
