From live music to murals, Austin is thriving with art.

Much of that art makes its way onto the walls of dozens of art galleries in Austin, turning these spaces into forums for creative exploration. Next time you’re in need of a little inspiration, take a stroll through one of these six local galleries.

Women & Their Work | 1311 E. Cesar Chavez St.
This gallery has displayed art by Texas women for more than 40 years, and showcased the work of 1,900+ artists. It was also the first organization in the state to receive a visual arts grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

SAGE Studio & Gallery | 916 Springdale Rd., Bldg. 2, #103
Artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities shine at this nonprofit studio and gallery. The organization also offers a studio program, where artists can create under the guidance of facilitators.

West Chelsea Contemporary | 1009 W. 6th St., #120
Expect to see pop art, street art, graffiti, and contemporary works at this downtown gallery. This space prides itself on showcasing art in a museum-quality environment.

Wally Workman Gallery | 1202 W. 6th St.
Showcasing emerging talent in a 120-year-old home, stepping into this gallery is like stepping into the past and the future. More than 50 artists are currently represented in the two-story exhibition space.

Art for the People Gallery | 1711 S. 1st St.
This South Austin gallery showcases paintings and visual art, as well as locally made gifts like jewelry, pottery, and home goods.

For 25 years, this gallery and custom frame shop has showcased locally and non-locally made works.
