What Austinites are thinking about Project Connect

The Austin Transit Partnership surveyed Austinites for around two months to inform future routes, costs, connections, and locations.

3,863. That’s how many comments the Austin Transit Partnership collected about the future of Project Connect from residents during its survey period.

ATP collected feedback from January to March for the Austin Light Rail Phase 1 Project Scoping Report. Let’s dive into some highlights about what Austinites said:

  • 24% of comments (the biggest margin) provided feedback about Project Connect’s route, including station locations, route lengths, and priority extensions
  • 11% of notes emphasized the need to connect stations with bus, pedestrian, bike, and/or Park & Ride stations
  • Another 11% raised opinions in favor of creating stations near active spaces, dense areas, and business + retail development
  • 9% were curious about costs, including budget, fares, tax burden, and receiving federal funding
  • 8% wanted to make sure the light rail was safe to use
