Have you ever wanted to be a tourist in your own city? Thankfully, we live in this unique (sometimes weird) town where it seems you can explore something new every weekend.

Whether you have lived in the Capital City 20 days or 20 years, we rounded up a list of six tours that newcomers + longtime locals can both enjoy.

🦇 Nightly Bat Watching Sunset Cruises, board at the Lone Star Dock, 208 Barton Springs Rd.

What’s better than hopping on a boat on Lady Bird Lake and watching bats fly from underneath Congress Avenue Bridge? During this tour, you’ll learn about the history behind Austin’s bats + get a great view of the city’s skyline from the water. Prices start at $12.

👀 Weird Austin City Tour, tours start at Austin Visitor Center, 602 E. 4th St.

“Keep Austin Weird” with this tour. Hop on this Twisted Texas vehicle to explore live music, the food truck scene, and some other weird stuff that you’ll just have to wait and see for yourself. Also, you’ll want to be prepared to sing along with a local musician who will be riding shotgun during this adventure. Prices are $49 per person.

🍻 Austin Brewery Tours, tours start at Craft Pride, 61 Rainey St.

If you want to experience the Lone Star State’s craft beer scene, this tour is for you. You’ll get to visit three local breweries + taste of popular brews at each stop. Prices start at $80 per person.

🚐 Very Best of ATX Panoramic City Center Tours, pickup at Austin Visitor Center, 602 E. 4th St.

AO Tours offers this guided excursion in a panoramic mini-bus, which makes stops at landmarks such as the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge + the Texas State Cemetery. On the bus, you’ll get 360º views of the Texas Capitol, historic Driskill Hotel, and the UT Austin campus. Prices start at $40.

🎸 Austin Live Music Crawl, tours start at Hilton Austin Hotel, 500 E. 4th St.

Austin is called the Live Music Capital of the World for a reason, right? As if jammin’ out to live music isn’t fun enough, you’ll also learn the history behind the city’s live music scene + entry fees to all the shows and venues are covered. This live music crawl is $85 per person.

🍖 Wild About Texas BBQ Tour, door-to-door pickup service in Central Austin, additional locations available for a fee

You can’t mention Austin without mentioning barbecue. In addition to getting up close and personal with some seriously delicious smoked meats, you’ll get a smokehouse tour with a local pitmaster. If you’re feeling adventurous, tours in Lockhart are also offered. Private tours start at $529 for two people.
