Inside W Austin’s multi-million dollar renovations

The 2nd Street District hotel boasts redesigned rooms, a new restaurant, a coffee shop, and a reservation-only cocktail bar.

A stylish lounge area in a modern interior space. The room features a curved burnt orange sectional sofa adorned with purple and dark blue accent pillows, placed on a patterned rug. A small round table with a flower arrangement and two wooden stools complete the setup. A vibrant piece of art depicting an abstract burst of light hangs on the textured wall behind the sofa. To the right, a staircase with dark wood steps leads to an upper level, and the space is warmly lit with recessed lighting.

W Austin’s lobby, called The Living Room, is both a spot for daytime co-working and a nightlife destination with musical performances.

Multi-million dollar renovations are officially complete on W Austin, the Marriott Bonvoy hotel adjacent to ACL Live in Downtown Austin’s 2nd Street District.

The best part? You don’t have to book a stay to enjoy everything the social hub offers. With a new coffee shop, restaurant, and cocktail bar, we expect 200 Lavaca St. to be a go-to destination for Austinites for years to come.

The Living Room

A spacious and modern lounge area with large floor-to-ceiling windows letting in natural light. The room features curved purple sofas adorned with white and plum-colored pillows, along with several clusters of round glass coffee tables with gold frames. Beige swivel chairs with wooden side tables are arranged along the window line. Suspended pendant lights hang from the ceiling, adding to the airy ambiance. In the background, a bar area with blue stools and warm wooden accents completes the inviting space, with an orange and purple color palette throughout.

Whether you’re checking in or clocking in to work remotely, The Living Room offers space to lounge + sip a coffee from 2nd & Roast.

The Living Room, situated in the hotel’s heart, is an all-day gathering spot for locals and tourists alike. Attached to coffee shop 2nd & Roast and anchored by a trumpet-inspired gold bar, this colorful lobby invites you in to take a business call by day and catch a live music performance (organized by W Austin’s music curator) by night.

Serenade American Brassiere

Bright and airy restaurant interior with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to an outdoor patio area. The indoor space features a marble-topped bar with elegant white stools, gold accents, and shelves lined with bottles and decorative lighting. Tables are set with white linens, gold cutlery, and vases of fresh flowers, surrounded by red upholstered chairs with brass details. A floral-patterned feature wall adds a touch of sophistication, while the outdoor area includes woven chairs and tables under sunny skies, creating a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor dining.

The all-day brasserie invites you to stroll in for breakfast, lunch, happy hour, and dinner.

Formerly occupied by Trace, the restaurant space has been transformed to create a home for all-day eatery Serenade American Brassiere, “where French oak meets the draw of Texas smoke.”

Breakfast highlights include the Blue Crab Benedict with Texas gulf crab, soft leeks, and griddled corncake; as well as a wild mushroom + leek omelette, French toast, buttermilk pancakes, and a farmers market bowl.

On the all-day menu, a rotating “crudo of the day” sits alongside mouth-watering dishes like a roasted rainbow beet salad, steak frites, the Serenade burger, and duck confit hash.

Those who dine at dinner will be offered alluring options like the market-price seafood board, stacked with blue crab claws, mussel escabeche, oysters, snapper tartar, mignonette, charred lemon, and compound butter. Main courses include grilled cauliflower steak, pan-roasted sea bass, dry-aged tomahawk ribeye, and grilled chicken paillard.

You know we can’t skip happy hour — beverages are discounted by 25% from 3 to 6 p.m. on weekdays. Wander in for a Texas draft beer, wine by the glass, or a craft cocktail like “Oscar Winning Tears,” made with Roku gin, herb de provence syrup, lemon, apple juice, egg white, and club soda.

2nd & Roast

A circular bar or counter in the middle of a small coffee shop with an eclectic light display hanging overhead. The counter is filled with coffee machines, a pastry case, coffee cups, and more. Behind the counter, a wooden wall in an artful design towers above teal-colored seating. Floor-to-ceiling windows are on one side of the room, while the other is an entrance into The Living Room.

2nd & Roast features locally roasted coffee by Medici Roasters, Spirit Teas, and pastries.

Brand-new coffee shop 2nd & Roast was designed as a space for locals and hotel guests to get their morning fill or afternoon recharge before embarking on a Downtown adventure. Locally roasted coffee by Medici Roasters is at the forefront of the menu, which also boasts chef-crafted bites and decadent pastries.

Blue Room

A cocktail bar with black marble floors, arched ceilings, and blue decor including blue chairs, walls, and blue upholstery on columns in the middle of the room. A bar is visible in the background, which has rows of liquor on dimly lit shelves.

The Blue Room aims to transport guests to an exclusive hideaway with top-notch cocktails.

Every luxury hotel needs a swanky cocktail bar and the W Austin delivers with Blue Room, a reservation-only lounge for those seeking an elevated libation in a moody atmosphere. Sip both classic and custom signature cocktails like the “Desert Wish” and “NOLA,” dreamt up and shaken by experienced mixologists.

Revamped guest rooms + suites

A TV is on the wall, and a desk with a black chair sits underneath the TV. A glass-top table sits in front of the couch, which is topped with a glass carafe.

Interior designers took inspiration from Austin’s lively music scene and stunning natural landscape for the new rooms.
