Padel Club Austin celebrates grand opening

With construction on the facility now complete, Austinites can try their hand at padel, a sport that melds tennis and squash.

An outdoor padel court facility with multiple courts enclosed by black wire fencing. The ground is covered in light-colored gravel, and there are gray sofas and black chairs under large, modern umbrellas for spectators. The scene is illuminated by uniquely designed streetlights with an evening sky overhead. Some people are seen playing on the courts in the background.

There’s a new sports club in town: Austin’s first dedicated padel facility.

Focusing on padel — a cross between tennis and squash that originated in Mexico, usually played in doubles on an enclosed court — Padel Club Austin will celebrate its grand opening for newbies and padel pros alike from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Inside the club, Austinites will find nine courts, a lounge and viewing area, an on-site cantina, space for food trucks, and a pro shop. For those looking to train, Padel Club will provide professional coaching and lessons for players of all skills.

Clinic prices start at $35 and events start at $30 — browse the schedule or learn the rules first.

While the club has been open for reservations since April, the grand opening will allow the public to enjoy open play, take a yoga class, explore amenities, and more. Join the waitlist.
