It’s National Library Week, and in case you didn’t know, books aren’t the only thing you can check out at the library.
Austin residents can pick up a library card for the low, low price of free. Here’s what that lovely little card can get you.
Gardening supplies
If you have a green thumb, you might want to check out APL’s seed library — where you can “borrow” or donate seeds for free.
Technology
APL allows cardholders to check out laptops, tablets, and Wi-Fi hotspots for up to three weeks.
Home tools
There’s no need to go out and buy a set of pliers, a bike repair kit, or binoculars when you can borrow them from the library.

Got a sweet tooth that makes you ravenous? Sugarwolf can tame your cravings. The new bakery, from the folks behind Salty Sow and ATX Cocina, opens Tuesday, May 5 near Republic Square. We’re excited to try a lemon poppy cake croissant, a Kouign-amann, and a French onion danish. (CultureMap)

Uncle Nicky’s will close its Hyde Park location, which was open for eight years, after this Sunday, April 26, as the owners said operations got “bigger than we meant them to” on Instagram. The restaurant’s South Lamar Boulevard location will remain open, and the Hyde Park restaurant will serve specials all weekend.

Pro Tip
Every Thursday, lululemon adds new markdowns to its We Made Too Much section. Read: Deals, on deals, on deals. We’re eyeing this breathable short sleeve tee that’s perfect for warm-weather workouts, or this cropped legging that’s a great price for lululemon leggings.*

Performers, paddling, and cultural celebrations — that’s what you’ll find at the Austin Dragon Boat Festival this Saturday, April 25 at Festival Beach.
The free festival has been organized by The Lunar Foundation for 26 years to bring over 600 paddlers to Lady Bird Lake to participate in the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boating. Aside from the boating race, the festival will also include lion dances, drum circles, an outdoor art gallery, food trucks, vendors, and an awards ceremony.
The festival is free to attend for all ages.

I am once again asking — nay, pleading — with ACL Festival to bring Lana Del Rey to the festival, but I would also love to see Charli xcx. It’s the least they can do if Mumford & Sons show up on the lineup again.
