The 2026 Winter Olympics begin on Friday, Feb. 6, giving the Lone Star State a taste of a winter wonderland on the screen through Sunday, Feb. 22. While our state isn’t really known for grace on ice and snow, four athletes will represent Texas at this year’s games.

Let’s meet the Texans, each competing in their debut Olympics, on Team USA.

Emily Chan, Figure Skating

An alumna of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, finishing 5th in Pairs in 2023, Chan has been skating for 24 years since and grew up in Pasadena.

Amber Glenn, Figure Skating

Boasting accolades like being the sixth US woman to successfully land the triple Axel in competition, Glenn has been skating since she was five years old. The Plano native placed 5th in Singles during the 2025 World Championships.

Anyone can participate — all you have to do is go outside and observe for as little as 15 minutes. Count all of the birds you see or hear using one of the following tools:

The information will help experts study bird habitats, migration patterns, and global bird populations.
