The City of Austin plans to install permanent concrete barriers along 6th Street, replacing the temporary fencing that currently stands. Construction is expected to begin on Monday, Aug. 11, and then undergo a beautification project shortly after. (KXAN)

Wine bar and cafe Postino opened its second location in Bryker Woods yesterday. To celebrate, the location will donate $1 from every bruschetta board sold to Friends of the Children Austin — a non-profit that connects children to mentors — all month long.

Texas students will not be able to use their cell phones or smartwatches in class in the upcoming school year due to the passage of House Bill 1481. School districts will be able to independently draft a plan for enforcement, like in Round Rock ISD, where students will still be allowed to carry their phones. (KXAN)
