The countdown to Waterloo Records’ high-profile move is on, because there are just 20 days until the location where it has stood since 1989 closes. The new store, just a stone’s throw away, opens Saturday, Aug. 30.
That means two things: Your days to visit the old building are numbered, and it’s time to mark your calendar to participate in a history-making grand opening party.
The owners will break in the 50% bigger space with an all-day party featuring live music, giveaways, an unveiling of rentable studios + performance spaces, drinks, and community celebration.

Does anyone else remember flipping through Guinness World Records books as a kid and thinking how cool it would be to set one? We did a little research and found out a number of Austinites have achieved that record-setting goal.
Here are just a few of the most impressive titles claimed right here in ATX.
The 1,000-lb charcuterie board (540 lbs of cured meats, 240 lbs of cheese, 130 lbs of fruits + olives, and 90 lbs of spreads) beat the existing record by 230 lbs.

If you listen carefully, you might still be able to hear me sneezing through this newsletter. This has been one of the worst years for my allergies in 14 years of living in Austin — what gives? Last week’s allergy report was high in mold spores and some reports suggest that Saharan dust in town might exacerbate allergies.
