Mumbai flavors are the star of the show at Electric Gravy, which plans to launch a brunch menu in the coming months. | Photos by Skyler Moore
Austin foodies will soon be able to transport their taste buds to Mumbai when Electric Gravy, a new bar-forward restaurant from the team behind Old Thousand, opens its doors on Thursday, March 27 on East 11th Street.
Helmed by Chef Brendan Nomura, the kitchen will focus on Indian flavors with a Texas twist, serving up dishes like curry queso, tikki masala, vindaloo, electric poutine and fried chicken, plus desserts like basmati rice krispies and sweet chaat.
Alongside an extensive beer and wine list, the cocktail program aims to wow patrons with sips like the Mumbai 75, the frozen Lassi Painkiller, and the Pudina Pani Marg.
Inside, the dining room is a “love letter to the streets of Mumbai,” complete with Bollywood posters, curated artwork, patchwork curtains, and cozy nooks filled with vintage wares.
