It’s the last call to help make our goal happen.

We can’t thank our readers enough for contributing to our fundraiser. We’re $2,500 away from our goal of $4,000 — and our fundraising campaign ends tonight. Help us by giving today and supporting our free, unbiased approach to local storytelling.

Let them eat king cake

A vibrant Mardi Gras-themed feast is spread across a table, featuring a bowl of New Orleans-style barbecue shrimp with toasted bread, a po' boy sandwich filled with lettuce and crispy seafood, a golden-brown king cake drizzled with green, yellow, and white icing, and a plate of flaky, crescent-shaped meat pies. Beaded necklaces in purple, green, and gold decorate the table, along with a small candle casting a warm glow. A bottle of hot sauce and a classic cocktail with a lemon garnish complete the festive setting.
