Jim Henson’s “Fraggle Rock” Live | 3 p.m. | Bass Concert Hall | $29+ | Come down to “Fraggle Rock” with Gobo, Red, Mokey, Wembley, and Boober as they discover the legend of the Celebration Stone.
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, predicting six more weeks of winter. However, Bee Cave Bob — the “alternative groundhog” of Central Texas— predicted an early spring. We’ll just have to see who is right. (KXAN)
Opening
1972: ATX Women’s Sports Pub will open its doors — with TVs showing all women’s sports, all the time — in West University this March. The pub will take over the former Moody’s Kitchen and Bar space.
Outdoors
Pease Park’s iconic tree house will be closed for repairs until further notice. Officials from the park announced the closure on Instagram, saying the tree house is “well-loved” and receives a lot of foot traffic, so they will work with structural engineers to thoroughly inspect the structure.
Concert
"Country’s Cool Again,” and musician Lainey Wilson is coming to the Moody Center for her “Whirlwind” world tour on Thursday, Sept. 18 to prove it. Get tickets at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 7.
Edu
Texas State University set a new total enrollment record: 37,567 students, a 6% increase from spring 2024. Meanwhile, the total number of new students hit a 24% increase, new master’s students jumped by 47%, and international enrollment rose by 50%.
Number
$5 billion. That’s about how much Texas’ music scene generated in earnings last year, according to the 2025 Texas Music Industry Economic Impact Report.
