🔮 What’s next for ATX?

Futuristic cityscape with sleek, modern skyscrapers and a network of waterways running through the urban environment. A futuristic flying vehicle, resembling a white pod with a black dome, hovers over the water, near a multi-lane bridge with cars. Boats navigate the waterways below, surrounded by lush greenery and reflective architecture. The scene is bathed in soft daylight, blending advanced technology with natural elements.

Move over millenials, zillenials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha, there’s a new kid on the block. 2025 marks the end of Generation Alpha and the beginning of Generation Beta.

Generation Beta will be the first generation where most of its members live into the 22nd century. Babies born this year will be 76 in the year 2101.

That got us thinking — what might Austin look like in the 22nd century? Here’s what ChatGPT predicts.

Important note: anything written by AI will be in italics for clarity.

Skyline and architecture

An AI generated image of what Austin, Texas could look like in the 22nd century. Lady Bird Lake weaves through a futuristic city with tall, silver skyscrapers and large dome buildings with layers of green spaces. The city is filled with fluffy, green trees, and it's golden hour.

AI predicts Austin will be full of green spaces and biodiversity in the 22nd century.

Austin’s skyline would likely be a stunning mix of futuristic skyscrapers and sustainable, greenery-covered buildings. Imagine high-tech structures powered entirely by renewable energy, with solar panels, wind turbines, and algae biofuel.

Cultural scene

Electrifying concert scene with a vibrant pink and purple light show. A large, futuristic stage features a massive curved screen displaying a colorful cityscape, surrounded by beams of light. The silhouetted performers stand in front of a crowd with raised hands, immersed in the dynamic atmosphere. The combination of lights, visuals, and audience energy creates an exhilarating and immersive experience.

Austinites in 2101 might still be going to Willie Nelson concerts — in hologram form, that is.

Austin’s “Live Music Capital of the World” title would endure, with concerts featuring holographic projections of legendary artists and experimental genres we can’t even imagine today.
