These days, blink and you’ll miss all the new business openings in Austin.

This summer brought dozens of new coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and lounges to the food + beverage scene — here’s a few that we’re excited to see.

The Break Room | The daytime alter ego to east Austin bar Bosses Office, The Break Room serves up all-day breakfast, sandwiches, coffee, and daytime cocktails before evening sets in.

Chalmers | Housed inside a converted Shell gas station, this West Texas-inspired bar, restaurant, and music hub offers bevs + bites from the folks behind the Armadillo Den.

The Dead Rabbit | The fan-favorite pub in NYC expanded to old 6th Street over the summer, serving whiskeys, coffee-based cocktails, and Irish comfort food (think scotch eggs, corned beef sliders, and bangers + mash) with a Texas twist.

A plastic cup filled with an iced coffee beverage. The drink is topped with a generous layer of whipped cream and sprinkled with a dusting of cinnamon or cocoa powder. The cup has the branding "Neighbourhood Café" printed on it, along with an address in Austin. The drink is placed on a light-colored, textured surface, possibly a marble or stone countertop.

Drink your dessert with the Iced Tiramisu at Neighbourhood Café.

Neighbourhood Café | Next door to The Dead Rabbit, the second location of this cafe (and first in the country) is serving creative caffeinated drinks — like the Iced Tiramisu + Turkish Spice Mint — and healthy brunch bites.

Taano House | Try some alternatives to alcoholic beverages at this botanical bar that serves tinctures made from tea, mushrooms, fruits, and kava.

Dishes and beverages presented on a white marble table. The spread includes:

A burger with a side of fries served on a metal tray.
Three steamed bao buns filled with a savory protein and topped with fresh greens.
A bowl of queso accompanied by tortilla chips.
Loaded tater tots drizzled with a green sauce and sprinkled with herbs.
platter of nachos topped with a mix of melted cheese, cilantro, and a drizzle of sour cream.
Two cocktails—one garnished with an orchid flower and the other with a slice of citrus and a chili-salt rim.

Enjoy some upscale fusion bites while watching the game on a huge screen at Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’s new location.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot | The popular West 6th Street sports bar has a second location in the works on 1501 E. 7th St. The new spot opens on Friday, Sept. 6 with 5,000+ sqft of space, a two-story projector screen, and fusion bites for snacking.

UT senior athlete and three-time NCAA championship player Madisen Skinner has accepted H-E-B’s first-ever name, image, and likeness deal.

What is a NIL deal? Taking a NIL deal gives a right of publicity for a brand to use a college athlete’s name, image, and likeness to promote products. In turn, the athlete profits from brand sponsorships.

Skinner is currently ranked as the fifth-best player nationally in points per set, according to the NCAA.

Skinner already has an event lined up to celebrate the deal — she’ll appear at Popham Elementary School in Del Valle ISD on Tuesday, Sept. 3 to present a $10,000 donation to nonprofit Brighter Bites, followed by to-be-announced appearances with UT and H-E-B.

Plus, get ready to see her on your TV screens, because she already has ad slots filmed.

One of my friends from high school is coming back to town after graduating law school, so I’m treating him to some drinks tonight. I’m thinking either Quince Lakehouse or Honey Moon Spirit Lounge — two places I’ve never been before.
