Brain freeze warning. It may be hot in Austin, but local bars are bundlingup for a cool celebration: the city’s first annual Freeze Week.
Presented by Campari, the event runs Monday, Aug. 5-Sunday, Aug. 11 and 10 watering holes are participating. Grab a punch card at any of the stops, then drink a frozen cocktail at each establishment to earn a limited edition T-shirt.
In addition to specialty drinks, many of the venues are hosting parties throughout the week. Here are your stops on the icy adventure:

🎣 The 4-1-1 on the Holly Project
What is the Holly Project?
A series of projects have been proposed for the Holly Shores area. | Photo provided by The Trail Conservancy
A new fishing pier on Lady Bird Lake will break ground in the Holly area later this month. It’s part of the Holly Project, a series of planned improvements in partnership between The Trail Conservancy and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department.
By the time it’s complete, the area just west of the decommissioned Holly Power Plant at Festival Beach would be revitalized. The Holly Project is still in early stages, but could include:
A new trailhead. Located at Metz Park, this project would bring shade, seating, and other amenities.
Trail enhancements. TTC hopes to add new shade structures, drinking fountains, and trees.
A new play area. A new one-acre plaground would be located between Fiesta Gardens and the Lorraine “Grandma” Camacho Activity Center.
The new fishing pier’s groundbreaking will be a community celebration from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. Expect free breakfast tacos and music behind the baseball fields.

I’m sad to see Cenote leaving its East Cesar Chavez St. location, but glad to know it isn’t closing. I would miss its delicious (and enormous) breakfast tacos and Maine Root soda selection.
