UT Austin will ring in its first official day in the Southeastern Conference with an all-day celebration across campus from 1-10 p.m. on Sunday, June 30. The SEC extravaganza is free and open to the public.
Here’s the lineup of events:
11 a.m. | Free parking opens in designated parking garages and surface lots.
1-5 p.m. | UT museums and centers host free activities on the Forty Acres.
2 p.m. | Attractions like interactive games + activities, a Ferris wheel, a giant fun slide, and inflatables open.
5 p.m. | Live music starts on the Tower Stage.
5-9 p.m. | The SEC Network‘s coverage, hosted by Laura Rutledge and Peter Burns, broadcasts live at the Main Mall.
8:30 p.m. | The official SEC Ceremony begins at the Tower Stage, featuring SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and several UT officials. A fireworks show immediately follows.
9 p.m. | International superstar Pitbull performs.
10 p.m. | The party’s over, but it’s also just begun — the Longhorns are officially in the SEC.

We’ll have to wait a bit longer to try the fry bread tacos at Chalmers. The new bar and restaurant was slated to open today in east Austin, but announced yesterday that its new opening date is Thursday, July 4 due to unforeseen delays.

Something new is brewing — the first Nespresso Boutique store in the US will open in The Domain at 11410 Century Oaks Terrace on Friday, July 12. Expect masterclasses, interactive experiences, and a mosiac mural + art installation by Austin artists.
Eat
Family-owned Bullseye Bakery will open its first storefront location in a shared space with Bar Gimmicks on Wednesday, July 3. Customers can purchase baked goods, coffee, and tea by day and drink at the local bar by night at 2007 Kramer Lane, Unit #105. (Community Impact)

The LEVITATION lineup is here, featuring Osees, Washed Out, Slow Dive, Gang of Four, Jesus Lizard, Soccer Mommy, and many more performers. Tickets for the music festival, which takes over multiple Austin venues Thursday, Oct. 31-Sunday, Nov. 3, are available now.

Stupid Cancer, a New York-based organization aimed at “making cancer suck less,” is bringing its workshops, talks, and networking opportunities to Austin for the first time. CancerCon Live 2024, geared toward teenagers and young adults affected by cancer, will run Thursday, Aug. 15-Sunday, Aug. 18.

Did you know Barton Springs Pool admission is waived from 5-9 a.m. and 9-10 p.m.? I took a late-night dip and braved the diving board for the first time this week. Two cannonballs and a toe touch later, I’d found my new favorite weeknight activity.
