Boerne Farmers Market | Visit this weekly Tuesday market just steps from the Hill Country Mile for a wide selection of handmade + homegrown goods from local farmers, artisans, and producers.

You can’t visit Boerne without adding some Lone Star charm to your wardrobe. Schedule time to add some sparkle and sass to your outfit with a hat from The Pearl Antler. Or, head to J. Forks to customize a hat and shop Southwest-inspired jewelry. Pro tip: Ask about their complimentary whiskey bar so you can sip while you shop.
Feeling crafty? Head to The Downtown DIY, home to all-inclusive creative experiences, classes, workshops + more. Visitors can expect different daily specials, like a candle bar, a kids’ corner, customizable textiles, and more, to cater to creatives of all kinds.

🌳 Head outdoors
Get in touch with local flora and fauna at The Cibolo, a 100-acre park that covers a variety of ecosystems. It also has lots of programming and monthly Moondance concerts in the summer.
Need a nighttime activity?Old Tunnel Bat Cave is nearby and makes for a good evening adventure.
River Road Park recently underwent a major restoration and renovation. It’s easily accessible while enjoying the Hill Country Mile, Boerne’s historic arts and shopping district.
Get out on the water at Boerne City Lake Park with water craft rentals and sailing options available to visitors. Pro tip: The Random Beer Garden is right next door.

We’re not bacon your heart — popular barbecue truck Micklethwait Craft Meats has a brick and mortar location in the works. The market-style eatery will open at 4602 Tanney St. sometime this winter and the food truck will remain open until then. (Eater Austin)

Access to electronic health records at Ascension Seton hospitals in Austin have been restored after a mid-May ransomware attack blocked operations across the country. Austin is one of the first markets to return to normal, but the hospital system plans to restore all locations by Friday, June 14. (KUT)
Traffic
Austin City Council approved a pilot program to treat District 2 roadways with CoolSeal. The program, an effort to combat Austin’s heat island effect, uses a water-based emulsion coat designed to decrease the temperature on asphalt and was previously tested on a local road in 2022.
Environment
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced that six species of freshwater mussels — aka the “livers of the rivers” — in Central Texas would be classified as endangered or threatened. Local mussel populations have been declining in recent years due to environmental changes. (The Texas Tribune)

A one million-sqft industrial park is poised to break ground in Hutto. Construction on the development is slated to begin this month, raising six buildings on 118 acres at 2351 Innovation Blvd., about 10 miles west of the Samsung chipmaking campus in Taylor. (Austin Business Journal)

It’s time to get on the ball, because Travis County announced its first Women and Gender Expansive Sports Week from Saturday, June 8 to Saturday, June 15.
The Travis County Commissioners Court issued a proclamation yesterday to celebrate eight teams and their accomplishments, inspire future athletes, and make sports accessible to underrepresented communities.
Presented by ATX Women’s Sports Pub — a local sports club streaming only women’s sports opening this fall — the event will be commemorated with six games and a host of pop-up events.
