Goodbye Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Small Business Saturday — we’ll see you next fall. Tomorrow, Nov. 28 is Giving Tuesday: a day dedicated to giving back.

Giving Tuesday started in New York City in 2012 and is now a national nonprofit that encourages people to show generosity to their communities. Austin celebrates Giving Tuesday through I Live Here I Give Here, which also puts on Amplify ATX, and connects residents to hundreds of organizations accepting donations.

If you’re feeling generous this holiday season, consider giving to one of these local nonprofits.

Andy Roddick Foundation | Children
Founded by pro tennis player Andy Roddick, this organization helps give kids the foundation they need to pursue continuing education.

Bat Conservation International | Animals
Help some of Austin’s smallest residents by funding research, educational outreach, habitat conservation, and endangered species protection.

Casa Marianella | Immigration services
This nonprofit serves as a “casa” to homeless immigrants and helps prepare them for life after the shelter with work training, ESL classes, a medical clinic, and more.

Central Texas Food Bank | Food insecurity
With the help of the community, our local food bank has been keeping Austinites fed for more than 40 years.

Emancipet | Animals
This nonprofit provides low-cost veterinary clinics to help everyone take care of their furry friends.

Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas | Medicine
November is Epilepsy Awareness Month, so you can help support research and free seizure first aid training to help save a life.
