One of the most loveable things about Austin is the distinct character found in each neighborhood, district, and corner of town. They all have their own personalities and purposes — some would say it was written in the stars.

Let’s take a look at how our neighborhoods align with the zodiac signs.

Scorpio: North Loop | Oct. 23-Nov. 21

The aura of North Loop’s picturesque strip perfectly encapsulates this water sign. Mysteriously tucked away, this unassuming neighborhood is full of vintage shops and late-night eats like Tyson’s Tacos.

Sagittarius: Rainey Street Historic District | Nov. 22-Dec. 21

As an adventure seeker, you’ll be able to make a speedy getaway from Rainey Street — with the closest access to I-35 — without being far-removed. Besides proximity to one of the biggest nightlife districts in the city, Rainey also offers access to the river and major thoroughfare Cesar Chavez Street.

Capricorn: East Cesar Chavez | Dec. 22-Jan. 19

With how hardworking Capricorn is, they’ll be pleased to hear there are plenty of spots in East Cesar Chavez to network and work remotely. From Cenote to Flat Track Coffee to Cosmic Saltillo, there are plenty of places to post up. Afterwards, hit up Zilker Brewing or Whisler’s to decompress.

Aquarius: Cherrywood | Jan. 20-Feb. 18

The unique businesses of Cherrywood embody the eclectic nature of an Aquarius. This cozy little area, which sits just east of I-35, is packed full of cafes like Cherrywood Coffeehouse, restaurants like Vic & Al’s, and a few pocket parks.

There are $40 million worth of upgrades in the pipeline for Block 21 — a downtown mixed-use development that is home to ACL Live at the Moody Theater and the W Austin Hotel & Residences.

A little background: Nashville-based Opry Entertainment Group acquired the 2nd Street District development for $260 million in May 2022.

Renovations will begin this week, starting with W Austin’s entrance, public spaces, and dining amenities. ACL Live will gain a new 2,060-sqft terrace event space over PNC Plaza. In a press release, the company said the renovation is meant to “celebrate Austin’s rich live music culture.”

Opry expects public-facing renovations to be complete by summer 2024 and guest room renovations by fall 2024. Don’t worry — both the W Austin and ACL Live will remain open during the process.
