The mural was done the traditional way, “after hours.”

Torchy’s wants you to support your local artist while supporting your local “queso dealer.”

Late last Thursday night, Torchy’s on 1822 S. Congress Ave. unveiled a new mural designed by Austin-based graffiti artist and muralist Sloke One.

Sloke One, whose real name is Nathan Nordstrom, has been doing graffiti in the city since the 1990s. He does fine art and commercial work too — you might have seen his work without even knowing it.

Did you know: Sloke One once sold a painting to Austin Mayor Steve Adler.

The new mural depicts its mascot, Torchy, holding a can of spray paint next to to the phrase “Support your local queso dealer!!”
