$45 million. That’s the price tag of one of the most expensive homes in Texas. Guess what? It’s located right here in Austin.

To put that price into perspective, the most recently reported median sales price for a home in the City of Austin was $667,000, and this estate costs ~68 times more.

According to Realtor.com, in 2013 the home was listed at $14.5 million, which makes the current listing $30.5 million more than that listing price.

The ~15,400-sqft property named “Villa Del Lago,” which translates to “lake villa,” was the most expensive house for sale in the Lone Star State until a $60 million “European Chateau-inspired” estate hit the market in Houston last month.

Currently listed by Austin Luxury Group, this mansion was built in 2004 by Sendero Homes, an Austin-based company.

To name a few local properties, the real estate company has sold a $25 million equestrian ranch, a $14.9 million compound “surrounded by 400 acres of protected land,” and a custom $12.9 million waterfront estate.

  • Five-car garage
  • Marina with two boat slips + jet skis
  • Private guest quarters
  • Home theater
  • Library
  • Indoor basketball gym
  • Event pavilion with a full catering kitchen
  • Two private gated entrances

The estate also features an infinity pool and “fenced pastures for exotics.”

Wait… there’s more. There’s even a secret stairwell that leads to a safe room with hidden wiring + a ventilation system. Guess the secret’s out?

This Lake Travis estate is located at 12400 Cedar St. in northwest Austin. Take a look at the property listing here.

Note: Zillow and Realtor.com lists this home as “off market,” and Compass lists its status as “coming soon.” The current listing page with Austin Luxury Group lists its status as “for sale.”
