We love parties + parades (check out our Pride events guide) but Pride can be about so much more. Celebrate love in all its forms by supporting Austin’s LGBTQ+ community. Here’s how you can give back to six local charities and nonprofits.

  • QWELL Community Foundation works with local groups + organizers to celebrate Austin’s LGBTQ+ communities, as well as share research relevant to the cause of inclusion. Check out their upcoming Colors of Pride Festival with Austin Latinx Pride and Austin Queer Asians, reserve a free rainbow flag, support Pride Scouts, and more at the Austin Outpost website.

PFLAG Austin

  • The Austin chapter of PFLAG, the nation’s largest organization for LGBTQ+ people, family members, and allies, promotes community education by sharing stories from the local community. PFLAG Austin also offers support groups in person and virtually. To donate or volunteer, start here.

Out Youth

  • Out Youth provides a safe space for youth of all identities and orientations, addressing the disproportionate economic and mental tolls placed on LGBTQ+ communities. Check out their resources for children, young adults, and parents, as well as in-kind donation, volunteer, and fundraising opportunities.

Equality Texas

  • Equality Texas offers resources for transgender youth + their parents. The organization’s various programs help activate LGBTQ+ people in political spaces lacking representation, as well as providing crisis relief for disproportionately affected LGBTQ+ communities. Kind Clinic

  • Kind Clinic’s statewide locations provide HIV preventative treatment + gender-affirming care, in addition to virtual visits and free walk-in STI testing — all without stigma. Volunteer opportunities are available at various levels of healthcare experience, and one-time + recurring donations go to serve community health needs regardless of ability to pay.
