Get ready to don the burnt orange, Austin, because both UT’s Men’s and Women’s basketball teams are competing in the NCAA tournaments.

🏀 Women’s team
This season, Texas enters the NCAA tournament as winners of the Big 12 Championship , a record of 26-6, a No. 2 seed, and coming off an 11-game winning streak.
The Longhorns face No. 15 Fairfield — who have a record of 25-6 — in Austin later today. If they win, UT will advance to play either Utah or Arkansas on Sunday. That second-round game will be the last college game ever played at the iconic Frank Erwin Center, so we hope the Horns can be a part of it.

🏀 Men’s team
Last year, the Horns entered the tournament as Big 12 champs and a No. 3 seed, but were upset in the first round by No. 14 Abilene Christian University 53-52. (Not so fun fact: City Editor London was front and center for this heartbreaker, but still wore her burnt orange out of the stadium with pride.)
This season, the Horns lost in the Big 12 quarterfinals and are entering as a No. 6 seed with a 21-11 record.
It’s the Longhorns’ first season with head coach Chris Beard, who led Texas Tech to the National Final in 2019 + helped UT earn some exciting wins this season against Tennessee, Iowa State, and Kansas. (London was lucky enough to be at this Kansas game too, but steered clear of the crowds storming the court afterward.)
The Horns’ first matchup is with No. 11 seed Virginia Tech, which has a 23-12 record.
