Affordable home applications open for Whisper Valley

There are 48 new homes coming to the sustainable community, starting at $230,000 and designed for middle-income Austinites.

A quiet, suburban street lined with single-story modern homes, each with a small front porch and gabled roof. Some roofs feature solar panels, and the homes are surrounded by green lawns, trees, and colorful flower beds. A blue SUV is parked along the road, and the sky is clear with a few wispy clouds, suggesting a calm and pleasant day.

Austin Habitat for Humanity is currently accepting applications for a new stretch of homes in Whisper Valley, the first geothermal neighborhood in Travis County.

The nonprofit will build 48 single-family homes exclusively available to middle-income earners, with prices ranging from $230,000 to $245,000. Buyers can also utilize 100% financing, meaning a down payment isn’t required to purchase a house.

  • Two-person household: up to $78,250
  • Three-person household: up to $88,050
  • Four-person household: up to $97,800

The homes will be built in phases over the next several years, and construction efforts will kick off in October through the 2025 Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project. During the initiative, volunteers will come together to build 25 homes in one week.
