Get ready for more than half a year of construction in North Austin.

The road + trail closure along Brushy Creek in Round Rock has officially started. During the construction, the Great Oaks Drive Bridge over Brushy Creek will be replaced. Expect construction at the intersection of Great Oaks Drive and Brushy Creek Road/Hairy Man Road as well.

In order to maintain pedestrian and bicycle safety, the Brushy Creek Regional Trail in the construction area will be closed in the next week. Portions of Hairy Man Road, from Sam Bass Road to Great Oaks Drive, closed yesterday. So, what’s another route?

Expect to be detoured to Brightwater Boulevard and Creek Bend Boulevard (local traffic on Hairy Man Road will be allowed in from Sam Bass Road to Alto Lane).

What’s included in the construction?

  • Improved alignment with Great Oaks Drive
  • Bridge to be raised by 16 ft to help address flooding
  • Dedicated left + right turn lanes
  • Shared thru-right lanes
  • New parking area with 46 spots to improve trail connectivity

The project is funded by the voter-approved 2006 and 2013 Williamson County Road Bond Programs. The estimated construction cost is $11.1 million, not including the waterline relocation work made earlier this year.

Repairs and improvements are expected to be completed by August 2022. 🚧
