It’s been a busy week, filled with hundreds of panels, pop-ups, performances, premieres, and parties at SXSW 2024. To quote SXSW Co-President Hugh Forrest, we’ve got JOMO — aka, “joy of missing out” — because there’s just no way to experience it all.

- Walked ~70,000 steps each
- Took the Red Line to the Austin Convention Center every day
- Enjoyed panels from high-profile celebrities including Michael Dell , Dwyane Wade, and Lilly Singh
City Editor Figi here. For me, the best part was sitting in on ICON’s new product announcements and seeing the Phoenix printer up close and personal. Meanwhile, City Editor London said she really enjoyed the Sharpie x Paper Mate Studio’s panel with Mindy Kaling .
ICON is accustomed to making big announcements at SXSW, and this year, the company announced a new 3D-printing system that is capable of two-story construction.

2024 Film & TV Festival Jury and Special Awards
The 31st Film & TV Fest
brought 125 feature films, 60 short films, 19 music videos, and a total of 172 premieres to town. Here are a few winners to watch:
- Narrative features winner: “Bob Trevino Likes It ,” directed by Tracie Laymon
- Documentary features winner: “Grand Theft Hamlet ,” directed by Pinny Grylls and Sam Crane
- Narrative shorts winner: “Dissolution ,” directed by Anthony Saxe
- Documentary shorts winner: “Remember, Broken Crayons Colour Too ,” directed by Shannet Clemmings and Urša Kastelic
- Animated shorts winner: “Wander to Wonder ,” directed by Nina Gantz
- Texas shorts winner: “Jedo’s Dead ,” directed by Sara Nimeh
