Creek Show returns to Waller Creek Friday, Nov. 8-Saturday, Nov. 16 — and this year’s exhibition celebrates a decade of the immersive art experience.

Here’s a preview of this year’s masterpieces.

“Alluvial”

This installation (seen above), made of 3D tiles with laser-cut circles, will be illuminated by lighting behind the surface.

“The Ghost Boat: Through the Looking Glass”

An artistic installation under a bridge, featuring a glowing, abstract light sculpture resembling the shape of a bird's wings or a boat's oars, reflected on the water below. A group of people, including children, stands nearby, observing the installation. The scene is enveloped in a misty atmosphere, with a blend of purple and blue lighting that adds to the ethereal, otherworldly vibe of the artwork.

“The Ghost Boat: Through the Looking Glass” portrays a ghost story with a happy ending.

This work of art is inspired by a fantasy story — the lore involves an imaginary Austin local who vanishes in “the beauty of the creek” and was never seen again. However, the sound of their boat’s paddles can be heard in the early morning hours.

“Night Watch”

A rendering of a person walking in between two floating eyes underneath a bridge.

“Night Watch” will delight those who love weird, imaginative, and slightly creepy art.

Someone’s watching... Creek Show-goers will see these floating eyes beneath the 12th Street Bridge as they enter the show and can walk between them. It’s not an optical illusion, the orbs actually scan their surroundings and can even stare.

“Shadows of Former Self”

A green skeleton of a dinosaur floats over Waller Creek, and light casts its shadow on a brick wall behind it.

“Shadows of Former Self” is inspired by prehistoric Austin, its limestone, and its legacy.

While admiring this glowing skeleton, the artists hope Austinites reflect on what Central Texas was millions of years ago: a shallow sea with now-extinct fauna and flora.

“Waller Creek High, A School for Extraordinary Fish”

A school of fish with multicolor fish surrounding it floats over a portion of Waller Creek.

If you love interactive art, you’ll want to touch the fish in “Waller Creek High, A School for Extraordinary Fish.”

These fish out of water will be made with recycled materials, and attendees will be able to interact with them. Touching certain fish will cause the entire school to react by pulsing with color.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, Sept. 19, and all proceeds benefit Waterloo Greenway, which is currently under construction for its second phase — The Confluence.
