Exclusive: Peek inside Austin’s first Switchyards work club

The “neighborhood work club” begins offering memberships on Wednesday, June 18 — and they’ve been known to sell out in minutes.

A cozy, eclectic lounge area with a mid-century modern vibe. In the foreground, a wooden apothecary-style cabinet holds an open coffee table book flanked by two wooden lamps with white shades, surrounded by leafy green plants. Small bowls filled with chocolate and matchbooks sit on either side. In the background, a tan leather couch is centered below a geometric textile hanging on the wall, with a round, glowing paper lantern suspended above. Large windows line the right side, letting in natural light.

Switchyards, aka Austin’s newest neighborhood work club, opens on Monday, June 23 in Hyde Park.

Newsletter Editor Figi here — I got the inside scoop at Switchyards and toured the space yesterday. Here are some my favorite parts of the space.

The light, airy space is thoughtfully decorated and has a “heads down” section for quiet work, phone rooms + a meeting room available for booking, and a community-focused open room for work.

The café stocks complimentary drinks from Sightseer Coffee + Spokesman Coffee (both local brands), plus tea from Rishi Tea & Botanicals.

You can tour the space for yourself on Tuesday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Reserve a spot.

Membership applications open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at $100 per month. Only 250 memberships are available (and have been known to sell out within minutes), so don’t wait.
