It’s hard to beat the views of the hill country from the resort deck.

ATXtoday team member + Austin native Dalton Phillips here, fresh off my best spring break since 2017, thanks to an unforgettable weekend stay at the Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa .

What we tried

My fiancė and I brewed custom cocktails at the St. Paddy’s-themed Mixology Class, oohed and ahhed our way through some of the best fine dining I’ve ever enjoyed at the Blind Salamander , and soaked up the spring sun in the adults-only infinity pool . Oh, and did I mention free putt-putt?

The mini golf course was totally free — we just walked up and started swinging.

Sunny season at the Omni

Our spring break escape gave us a taste of the resort’s upcoming Summer in the Hills event series , which features kid-friendly activities (just about every hour), local market vendors, live music, and a whole lot more.

In the 24 hours we spent at the resort, we saw water balloon fights, smores + games on the lawn, and kids going absolutely bananas on the bouncy house (you better believe I snuck on there for a bounce in the morning).

What not to miss:

Our room at the Omni was pristine, with modern finishes and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gorgeous grounds.

A custom cookie plate even greeted us with my name printed above the resort. The hospitality extended to every encounter – from our hilarious bartenders at the Mixology class to the warm welcome we received during check-in.

This was definitely the first time my name ever appeared on a cookie.

What we’re still talking about:

The Blind Salamander is one of five fine-dining restaurants at the resort. Like our room, it overlooked the 72-hole golf course, and we watched the sunset as we enjoyed eight mouthwatering courses.

If I had to pick just one item to recommend, the Banana Cream Cheesecake nearly brought tears to my eyes.

I already know where I’m going for my upcoming birthday.

How you can experience this:

You don’t need to be a guest to enjoy many of the dining + event options offered at the Omni, but I can’t recommend a stay highly enough . Watching the sun crawl over the horizon from the ninth floor was absolutely unforgettable.

The fun also extends to the Summer in the Hills lineup of events , including:

  • Barton Creek Live | Friday, May 24 | Open to hotel guests and Barton Creek Country Club members
  • Barton Fest No. 1 | Saturday, June 15 | This festival of wine, spirits, live music, and local vendors is open to the public.
  • Red, White & Blue BBQ | Saturday, July 5 | Only available for hotel guests and Barton Creek Country Club members
  • Barton Fest No. 2 | Sunday, September | This festival of wine, spirits, live music, and local vendors is open to the public.
