The weather is warming, the wildflowers are blooming, and the kids are getting antsy. Austin parents, you know what that means: it’s almost spring break.

In case the calendar snuck up on you, spring break for Austin ISD + other local districts is next week, from March 14-18.

To keep the kiddos busy this year, here are eight things to do with children around Austin.

Hit the “skies”

Is your child a thrill-seeker? iFLY Indoor Skydiving will give your family the chance to practice skydiving with an instructor inside a vertical wind tunnel. The location at 13265 N. US 183 is open all week — book two flights per person starting at $64.99.

Meet some animals 🐯

The Austin Zoo started as a goat ranch several decades ago, but after taking in several animals who needed a home, that ranch became the Austin Zoo in 1994. Today, the space houses rescued animal species ranging from tigers to monkeys. Children’s tickets begin at $13.95.

Signing up for a library card + checking out free reading materials isn’t all you can do at the Austin Public Library. The downtown location also hosts an art gallery with works from local artists, a Cookbook Bar and Cafe, and 13 floors of shared learning rooms.

Catch a show

Whether your child is 2 or 12, there are plenty of events around ATX to keep them entertained. Younger kiddos might enjoy the Small Wonders Puppet Show at Pease Park on March 12, while pre-teen readers may learn from BookPeople’s kids book club on March 19 the group will discuss “The Mighty Heart of Sunny St. James.”
