Ramadan begins tonight and will likely last until the evening of Friday, April 21.

For those of Muslim faith, Ramadan is a month of prayer, reflection, and daily fasting from dawn until dusk. The month ends with Eid al-Fitr, a feast to celebrate the end of the fast.

Here’s how to celebrate:

  • City-Wide Iftar | Sunday, April 2 | Asian American Resource Center, 8401 Cameron Rd.
    • Join the Minaret Foundation, Mayor Kirk Watson, and Councilmember Zohaib Qadri for an iftar catered by Bamboo Biryani. Tickets start at $25 each, or get a table for eight for $200.
  • ATX Eid Fest 2023 | Saturday, April 22 | Reunion Ranch, 850 Country Rd. 255
    • Attend the first-ever Austin Eid event, complete with halal foods, a marketplace, games, and fun for the whole family. Tickets start at $10 for the 12-8 p.m. festival.
