Bonus: Don’t forget to grab a brew from Pearl Brewery when you visit San Antonio. | Photo by ATXtoday
Hey y’all, City Editor Figi here. As much as I love the Capital City, sometimes you justhave to get out of town, especially if you’re trying to escape the SXSW crowds.
With the help of a resident friend and SATXtoday, I filled my last visit with some fantastic spots.
Coffee: Pullman Market
We got an iced chai and an iced vanilla latte to sip while strolling the rest of the market, where you can find food stands, artisan goods, dried flowers, a full-service restaurant, and more.
Indoor activity: McNay Art Museum
If you enjoy meandering through art museums, this one is a can’t-miss. The McNay’s lush garden and naturally lit interiors make it easy to spend hours gazing at the rotating collection.
Outdoor activity: San Antonio River Walk
If you only visit one area in San Antonio, it should be the River Walk, because it will lead you to dozens of restaurants, bars, concerts, boat tours, and — you guessed it — The Alamo.
Lines at the airport stretched out the door in the early morning on Friday as ~35,000 passengers departed. Several days during March and April’s festival season are expected to surpass 30,000 passengers, so plan accordingly if you have an upcoming flight. (KXAN)
Tech
Would you ride in an air taxi? Texas is one of 26 states participating in a three-year pilot program recently approved by the FAA that will test electric aircraft travel, including electric air taxis. The program will allow select companies to trial electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. (TechCrunch, Built In)
Mansion Monday
Wine enthusiasts will want to see the custom cellar in this home, which comes equipped with a pool and built-in hot tub to enjoy a bottle in. Of course, the clean finishes in the rest of the house really tie in the upscale feeling.
Holiday
Time to break out the green — St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. If you’re feeling green, you can celebrate with themed cocktails and live music at Dead Rabbit.
Outdoors
It’s oak wilt season, meaning trimming or pruning your live oak trees is not recommended until July. Learn the symptoms of oak wilt.
