SXSW isn’t possible without plenty of caffeine, and Jo’s Coffee will hit the spot. | Photo by ATXtoday
For richer or pour over, Austin’s coffee shops are what keep us going in the morning. With festival season around the corner, caffeine is more necessary than ever.
To help support your planning for SXSW (and the plenty of other festivals happening this spring), we rounded up a few tried-and-true shops in the Downtown area.
Merit Coffee Co. | In addition to its picturesque pastries, Merit’s attention to detail is what makes its drinks shine.
Desnudo Coffee | Indulge in specialty drinks — made with beans sourced from family farms in Colombia — like the shoyu butterscotch latte and white vanilla miso latte.
Revolución Coffee + Juice | Order an ube latte, London Fog, or chlorophyll water to go with some delicious breakfast tacos at this Downtown coffee shop. Jo’s Coffee | There are plenty of these shops around the city, so choosing a place to work won’t hinder your writing schedule.
Greater Austin YMCA will host a free, virtual workshop led by a licensed therapist for those navigating grief and loss on Sunday, March 8. Attending the Walking Through Grief & Loss workshop does not require a YMCA membership.

Something sweet is coming to Kerbey Lane All Day Cafe. The local favorite asked 1,580 elementary schoolers to design their dream pancake — three of which will be featured as the Pancake of the Month this spring. Catch us zooming in to try and get a sneak peek.
What would your ideal Kerbey Lane pancake taste like?
With the utmost respect to Austin ISD students, we’re sure our audience could come up with some equally delicious pancakes. Let’s put our heads together — what does your ideal pancake look like? Use this form for inspiration or take a look at the pancake menu.
Figi here. If I get enough good responses, I’ll reach out to Kerbey Lane and try to make one of your pancakes a reality.
While businesses from other states are opening in Austin, I’d like to humbly suggest that Golden Pride, an Albuquerque-based favorite, opens a location here. I miss their sweet rolls constantly. Though it isn’t quite the same, Manske rolls from Gil’s in San Marcos help fill the buttery round hole in my heart.
