💗 Spread the local love

Whether you’re new to plants or have a veritable green thumb, there’s something for you at The Plant Society. | Photo by Drew Elaine photography
If you’re anything like us, you love finding a new local spot to frequent or even become a third place.

Whether you’re working on a New Year’s resolution to get out of the house more, or you just like to explore, here are some brick-and-mortars to put on the list.

Food + Beverage

Choo Sando
You’ve likely seen this business’s milk bread sandos — with fillings ranging from pork katsu to strawberries and whipped cream — on social media, garnering huge lines to taste their fare. The shop also specializes in sushi and bowls, so there’s a little something for everyone.

Personal services

Bougie Bougie Tattoo
Artists at this studio specialize in fine-line, micro-realism, cosmic-inspired work, and even host artists from around the world in their space.

Retail

The Plant Society
Step inside a little shop of floras (including some rare specimens), ceramics, supplies, and gifts. Don’t miss the “mystery propagation wall,” where you can get a random cutting for $5.

Post of the Day

While many Austinites were curled up in a blanket at home, UT Austin became a winter sports wonderland.

A person was spotted zipping down a makeshift “slope” of ice and sidewalk on a pair of skis. They weren’t the only one taking advantage of the cold weather — KXAN captured folks in the Austin area using garbage can lids, flipped tables, and boogie boards to sled down icy roads.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Figi

Provided the power stays on and I don’t have to drive, I love it when it snows. My entire neighborhood iced over during the weekend, so we got to take a nice walk through the winter scenery. Check out this frozen creek.

If you got some good winter photos during the freeze, send them my way.
