📖 Crack open a good book

A large crowd browses tables stacked with books under a white event tent. People of various ages flip through pages, chat, and examine titles. The tables are neatly arranged with colorful book covers, and the atmosphere is lively and bustling.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, Nov. 8 + Sunday, Nov. 9, because the full star-studded roundup of authors for the Texas Book Festival is here. Here are a few of the authors we’re most excited to see at the (mostly) free festival of reading.

Kate Winkler Dawson | The Austin-based documentary producer, journalist, podcaster, and author will talk about “The Sinners All Bow: Two Authors, One Murder, and the Real Hester Prynne.” Psstread our interview with her.

Ling Ling Huang | Known for her debut novel, “Natural Beauty,” the author and violinist is back with her second book, “Immaculate Conception.”

Matthew McConaughey | The “Greenlights” author will be at the festival to talk about his new book, “Poems & Prayers,” in a ticketed session. Admission is $38 and includes a signed copy of the book, but don’t wait to get tickets, because they’re selling fast.

Ariel Sullivan | The author will meet up with Jenna Bush Hager for a ticketed conversation about her debut novel, “Conform.”

🎶 Let’s throw it back one more time

Enjoying a festival to its fullest is an art and it is hard-earned, unless you know where to find the best advice.

Figi here. Believe it or not, this will be my first year going to both Weekend One and Weekend Two of ACL Festival, and boy, have I learned a thing or two over the years.

Cover your face when you’re walking

Wear a bandanna around your neck and cover your face when you walk from set to set to reduce the dust you breathe in — you will wake up thanking your past self.

See bands you don’t know

The festival lineup today is full of some of the biggest stars of tomorrow — a great example is this Lady Gaga set from Lollapalooza 2007.

Forget pain or allergy meds?

This personally saved me when I forgot my allergy medication. The bodegas sell them for just a few dollars, so don’t suffer if you don’t have to.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Figi

I am a fiend for Cirque du Soleil, and if you haven’t been to one of their shows, I highly recommend getting some tickets. I saw “OVO” last night, and true to form, I spent the rest of the night Googling aerial classes.
