Looking for a classy way to spend your evening? | Photos by ATXtoday

There’s a new jazz bar open in Downtown Austin: Nica on 4th.

Inspired by Prohibition-era cocktail lounges, the new bar opened last Thursday in a moody, underground space next to Parker Jazz Club, which is run by the same team. In fact, you may catch co-owners Kris Kimura and Aaron Frescas playing on stage from time to time.

Figi here — we liked the minty gin-based “North Side” and fruity rum-based “Jet Pilot” cocktails.

The holidays may still be weeks away, but if you’re like us, you’re already making that list (and checking it twice).

Here’s something to put at the top: “A Christmas Carol” returns to Zach Theater for its 11th season from Wednesday, Nov. 19, to Saturday, Jan. 3.

This reimagined take on Dickens’ timeless tale is a musical sleigh ride packed with fresh songs, festive enchantment, and Victorian charm that will have you dancing in the aisles.

Not even Scrooge could say “Bah, Humbug!” to this.
