News Notes

Ranked

Austin Community College District, Dell Technologies, and Keller Williams Realty are three of “America’s Best Employers for Company Culture,” according to Forbes. The first edition of the list named 600 companies, including 30 in Texas.

Number

$150 million. That’s how much Huston-Tillotson University received from the Moody Foundation, marking the largest-ever single donation to a Historically Black College or University, according to a release.

Quoted

“These kids are the real heroes.” That’s what Longhorns starting quarterback Arch Manning said about his visit to Dell Children’s Medical Center over the weekend. While he was there, Manning handed out iPads and presents from Raising Cane’s to cancer patients. (KXAN)

Real Estate

Now could be the time to buy a home in Austin, if you ask ChatGPT. Austin was one of the top buyer’s markets named by the AI assistant, but you’re also likely to find falling prices in Miami + Orlando, Florida; St. Louis; and Toledo, Ohio. (AOL)

Opening

A brand new bar and social space called The All Good will open in Cedar Park this Friday, Sept. 26. Coming from the owners of Shooters Billiards, The All Good will feature a large patio, 20 beers + wines on tap, arcade games, and a food truck on-site.

Weather

Get ready to feel the rain. Central Texas typically sees ~10.3 inches of rain during meteorological fall, which lasts from September to November. (KXAN)

The Wrap

I’ve seen miles and miles of Texas this year. I spent the past weekend with some friends from college in Weslaco — down in the Rio Grande Valley — and had some of the best tacos of my life at Taqueria El Compallito.
