Austin-based Chef Janelle Romeo plans to open a new concept to showcase the flavors of her home island country of Trinidad and Tobago. Twin Isle will open on Monday, Sept. 1 in east Austin and serve Caribbean comfort food.

MICHELIN-recommended shabu-shabu restaurant DipDipDip Tatsu-Ya will close after serving customers for the last time on Sunday, Aug. 17, but you can dry your tears, because chef-founder Tatsu Aikawa plans to open a new, undisclosed concept in the Burnet Road space.

Grab your weekend by the horns, Austin.
Austin’s first and only professional bull riding team (and one of the now 10 Teams in the PBR Camping World Team Series), the Austin Gamblers, are ready to put on a show.
It’s almost time for the most exciting eight seconds in sports as the Professional Bull Riders Team Series returns to Austin later this month.
The Austin Gamblers will host PBR Gambler Days, presented by Tecovas, from Friday, Aug. 22 to Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Moody Center. Under the leadership of JJ Gottsch as CEO, the team has welcomed bull riding fans new and old to cheer on the reigning champions in green and black.
Single-day and weekend package tickets are now on sale with all-inclusive event tickets starting at $36.
Fossilized dinosaur tracks may have been discovered after flood clean-up efforts in Sandy Creek. Travis County Judge Andy Brown mentioned the three-toed footprint in a Travis County Commissioner’s Court meeting yesterday — UT paleontologists will visit the site to determine more about the print. Civic
If you saw smoke above the skies in south Austin, Kyle, Dripping Springs, and Wimberley yesterday, it was likely due to prescribed burns. Austin Water’s Wildland Conservation Division conducted a burn on 190 acres.
Announced
Comedian Trevor Wallace — aka the jokester behind this 2022 sketch about the Capital City — is bringing the laughs to Austin. “The Alpha Beta Tour” will stop at the Paramount Theatre on Friday, Feb. 13. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8.
List
What do The Cloak Room, Deep Eddy Cabaret, and Donn’s Depot have in common? They all made Huckberry’s list of “The 50 Best Dive Bars in America.” The three bars top spots No. 43 through No. 45, respectively, but authors of the list said Texas alone could fill all the slots with worthy bars.
Opening
Though we haven’t yet tried it, we’d give this new opening a 10 out of 10. The Dime, a new “social dining” spot in downtown Round Rock, will open at the end of this month, taking its name from the building’s history of being a five-and-dime. (Community Impact)
Number
46,694. That’s how many cubic yards of flood debris have been cleaned up in the Sandy Creek area since the floods in July, according to Travis County. The clean-up efforts have already cost about $1 million, but Travis County expects the whole process to cost at least $4 million more. (KXAN)

Last week, I attended SMOKE: A Celebration of Fire and Flavor at the Omni Barton Creek Resort, where four pitmasters from Texas and Oklahoma each faced off in a battle of the barbecue.
While there were no Austin-based chefs there, judges (ahem, NFL alums) Colt McCoy and Tony Casillas gave Teddy’s Barbecue of Weslaco the Texas trophy and Luke’s BBQ of Broken Arrow the Oklahoma trophy.
